Privacy Policy

Kuely (“Kuely,” “we,” “us”) provides an AI scene-partner application for actors. This Privacy Policy explains what we collect when you use the Kuely iOS app or this website, how we use it, and the choices you have.
By using Kuely, you agree to the practices described here. If you do not agree, do not use Kuely.
1. Information we collect
We collect only what we need to operate the service:
- Account information. Your name, email address, and an authentication identifier, managed through our authentication provider (Supabase Auth). We do not store your password — it is handled by the auth provider.
- Uploaded scripts. The script files (PDF or text) you upload, plus the parsed and enhanced versions we derive from them. These remain associated with your account.
- Rehearsal speech (processed on-device). When you rehearse a scene, your spoken lines are transcribed and scored entirely on your device by Apple’s on-device speech recognizer. Neither your microphone audio nor the resulting transcript is uploaded to Kuely.
- Generated session audio. The synthesized voice lines we generate for your AI scene partner are cached so we don’t regenerate them on repeat rehearsals.
- Diagnostic and usage logs. Standard application logs (timestamps, request paths, error traces) used to operate and debug the service.
Microphone audio is processed on your device. When you rehearse, Kuely uses Apple’s on-device speech recognizer to convert your speech to text and to score your line accuracy. Nothing you speak leaves your device — neither the raw microphone audio nor the resulting transcript is uploaded to our servers or to any third party.
2. How we use your information
- Run your practice sessions — parse scripts, generate your AI scene partner's voice.
- Operate, maintain, and secure the service.
- Communicate with you about your account, service issues, or material changes to Kuely.
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.
3. AI-generated content
Kuely uses third-party AI services to deliver core functionality:
- Anthropic (Claude). Used to structure your uploaded scripts and add performance-direction tags. Only your script content is sent to Anthropic for processing.
- ElevenLabs. Used to synthesize the voice of your AI scene partner. Script lines for the AI character are sent to ElevenLabs to generate the audio.
We send these providers only what is needed to perform the requested operation, and we rely on their commitments not to use your content to train their models. Their handling of data is governed by their own privacy policies.
4. Service providers
We rely on the following processors to run Kuely:
- Supabase — authentication, database, and file storage.
- Railway — application hosting.
- Anthropic — AI language model (script processing).
- ElevenLabs — text-to-speech generation.
- Apple — App Store distribution and on-device speech recognition.
These providers act on our behalf and are bound by contractual obligations to protect your information.
5. How we share your information
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with the service providers listed above, when required by law, or in connection with a business transfer (in which case the recipient will be bound by terms at least as protective as those described here).
6. Data retention
We retain your account, scripts, and sessions for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete the underlying records (account, scripts, sessions, turns, cached audio) from our systems. Backups and diagnostic logs are retained for a limited period in the ordinary course and then deleted.
Sessions created in earlier versions of the app (before grading moved on-device) may still hold transcript text in their session records. That legacy text is no longer collected for new sessions, and it is deleted along with the rest of your data when you delete your account.
7. Your choices and rights
- Access and deletion. You can delete your account at any time from inside the Kuely iOS app. Deletion is permanent and removes your scripts, sessions, transcripts, and cached audio.
- Microphone permission. You can revoke microphone and speech-recognition permissions at any time in iOS Settings; doing so disables practice sessions.
- Contacting us. Email [email protected] for any privacy question or request, including requests under applicable laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) or the GDPR.
8. Security
We use industry-standard technical and organizational measures — including encryption in transit, access controls, and least-privilege service credentials — to protect your information. No system is perfectly secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Children
Kuely is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
10. International users
Kuely is operated from the United States. If you use Kuely from outside the U.S., you understand that your information will be processed in the U.S. and in any other country where our service providers operate.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the effective date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app or by email.
